Appearance
Born with shifting ability, he can change his appearance to almost exactly the way he wants to look like. Sadly, being born with a curse means that he can't get rid of his distinguish werecat feature (ears and tail).

He's often seen wearing a shirt with short sleeves and hood, or a hoodie, or a vest and a hooded shirt. He almost never wears no hood, since it's used to hide his ears, while short sleeves ease him to move around and prevent high temperature. He also wears casual trousers and sneakers.
He always brings three things with him: a pocketknife, a blue handkerchief, and a phone. Sometimes he brings a waist bag to carry medicine and more electronics to spy on people.

Note: Thalassi was basically Swapandara's great spirit, almost Goddess-like. Hiz inherits her power, but since he was a mere vessel, his power comes with limitations.
Trait
Mischievous + Childish
He tends to show how much he loves to play around, to tease others, and to make jokes. Sometimes he seems to not have any manner. Even annoying at some point. He usually gives names to people.
But that is just a tendency. Little knows that having fun was his way to hide his true nature of being dead serious. He seems to be careless and carefree, yet he is also careful.
Curiosity Overload
Most of times, his curiosity leads to something dangerous, deadly even. And most of times, he decides to follow that curiosity of his. No wonder he usually asks too many question about someone's life.
Skeptical
He believes that nothing goes without give-and-take relationship. Thus, he sets his awareness high. He's more likely to put suspicion towards people, especially the ones he just meets. Talking about his pisanthrophobia.
Although he loves to joke, he's more of a lone wolf.
If he sees no need to talk, he won't. If he sees no need to meet people, he won't.
However, once he really trusts someone, he doesn't mind giving up his life. What's wrong with giving up a useless life for someone trustworthy?

Multi-Perspective
He has been surviving with this two-or-more ways of thinking. But because of that, he needs more time to make (slightly) complicated conversations straight. Sometimes he'll choose to avoid heavy topics or keep his true thinking to himself while giving short responses or carefree answers.
Azure, the other 'side' of him (or more like his deeper personality caused by the power he inherited) is almost the exact opposite of him: cold, considerate, but mean. He looks down at anything except those who pique his interest. None knows it well.
Life
Background
Runes was the only cat hybrid ever born at a village far to the west of Grieveyard, where most of its people were spirits, night creatures, and necromancers. His father was known as an ordinary sorcerer, while his mother was an enchantress from a noble family which had done great deeds during the Lasting War (the first and the longest war of Swapandara) to bring peace over the continent. He had a twin sister named Aura Zephyr, who shared similar features with him but with no tail nor ears.
The fact that his family was not werebeast-related (with his father, mother, and sister looking perfectly 'human') and the reputation of werecats being an ill race during the Lasting War caused him to be treated as if he was a cursed creature by people in his childhood. His parents raised him mostly indoors until he was able to walk and take care of his basic needs on his own. As bold and innocent as a kid could be, the young Hiz decided not to let the treatment brought him down. Since... (to be continued)

He was born in Grieveyard, a village far in the west of Swapandara, with his twin sister. The land was home for mythical creatures and the Three Spirits, but a werecat was seen as a source of misfortune, which was why he got treated bad. Worse than his sister. Since people see him as a sign of misfortune, he often caused small commotions and was labeled as 'mischievous' (but he enjoyed it somehow). At the age of 8, the village was under attack. Luckily, the Zephyr twins fled away with several townspeople, but unfortunately, their parents were not saved. The Zephyr were adopted by the Cyneweard family. The Cyneweard was a family specialize in herbs and medicine. They produced medicine and sold them to various places. His sister was then taught about herbs and making medicine, while Hiz helped searching for ingredients and selling the medicines. As he got older, he learned about Azure and started to have journey plans for himself. Since then, he's been going around the world, looking for the 'sadness' he wants to see as Azure.
He ran away from his homeland which is now destroyed. He was originally born as a werecat, but he then learned how to change himself into an owl. Originally, he's the 6th reincarnation of the Blue Spirit of his land. Later he became aware of this fact and was capable to pull out his ancestors' ability (which is also related to his shifting ability). Until the age of 17, Azure tends to act as Hiz's Alter-ego and take control of him despite Hiz being a 'reincarnation'. Now, Hiz tends to act as if that still occurs, but is it true? Dunno. He's a man of mischief anyway. Hiz suffers from Pistanthrophobia.
